Seems to me there is a lot of missing information. Like did the man die before the bear ate him? Agressive mother and cubs? It will depend on if the mother feels her cubs were in danger. Human mothers can be very aggressive in protecting their young as well.
Sorry for the man certainly, but at this point authorities are assuming too much and making a poor judgement out of fear, in my opinion. Stop and think Alaskan Police, don't rush to judgement, and relocate if you can confirm your assumption that the bear attacked, just to be aggressive and kill.
BTW how many bears have been killed in Alaska for the pleasure of someone who can afford to go on a killing "hunting" trip this year?
So, now they want to kill "dispose of", the mother and the cubs too, apparently. They must consider relocation of this family. Killing is ALWAYS what we do to animals, whether unwanted domestic companions, to mother bears protecting their young. We must start to treat animals with some respect, for it truly reflects on all of us, and shows our collective compassion and common sense or lack there of, perhaps in this case as well.
